      • Another F150 Problem

By Bob M on Friday, November 25, 2022

        2.0
On Nov 20 I drove my 2021 F150 XLT Hybrid to the Super Market. When I arrived I could not open the drivers door from the inside. I rolled down the window to try and open the door from the outside, it would not open. I got out the passenger door and could only unlock the door with the remote key and the push button keypad. I made an appointment with the Ford dealer. The following day when the weather warmed up everything worked ok. Surprisingly it wasn't because it froze up. Ford dealer found 50701 to update the driver and passenger module (DDMand PDM) to the latest calibration. So they updated it. According to one of the Ford forums many other owners have had the same problem . Seems like new vehicles may be a money eating pit after the warranty expires.
      • Dissatisfied F1500 Owner

ruary 2021 I took possession of a Ford F 150 Hybrid. The truck has been a Love Hate relationship. The 1st day driving it home I had it set on ECO mode, than I put it in 4wd for the slippery roads. The next day I went to pull out of my driveway up a little hill and could not make it. The day before I put the truck in 4wd. Ford has it set to go to normal mode if your not fast enough to hit yes on the window that pops up to retain ECO mode. Which also shuts off the 4wd. This happened on another occasion when roads were snowy and slippery. This is a Safety issue and Ford don’t care to change This $60,000. truck don’t have automatic 4wd which many less costly vehicles do. The cruise control works opposite of other vehicles I’ve have for years and I have a hard time adapting to how Fords work. When you start the truck it takes to long before you should put it in drive. Twice I couldn’t get the truck in drive because I think It didn’t let it go thru its sequence. Had to shut the truck off and restart. Backing up my travel trailer I like to open up my door and look back to see how the trailers is positioned. This truck moves the shift lever to park if you open the door. Another thing I hate is if I get out of the truck, put in park beforehand and the door closes while I’m checking over my trailers position. The horn will blow. When I am connected to my camper and I have my weight distribution hitch on. I can’t lower my tailgate flat because it hit the thong. This causes an issue when loading the leveling material in should I need or put stuff in the bed. Didn’t have this issue with the Silverado. The NHTS people made Ford put a backup alarm on hybrids. So now I can’t back into my hunting property because of the noisy alarm during hunting season. The truck isn’t any quieter than the Chevy Silverado I traded it in for. At 7000 miles I’m. not getting the 24 MPG around town but do with highway driving. In a 160 mile interstate trip I did get 27 MPG when it had 5000 miles on the truck. Towing a 8000 lb travel trailer I got between 8 1/2 to 9 mpg which had many speed limit changes and turns. The goofy constant miss engaging of the cruise control didn’t help because it work’s different than other vehicles. The power boost engine and transmission have no problem towing my travel trailer. This truck seems to sit higher than some F 150’s. which makes it difficult getting into the truck bed. Would be nice to have a step in the bumper. It would also be nicer if they put more tie downs in the bed. some about 1/2 way up. I like the spray on bed liner and pro power generator. For some dumb reason Ford has a hole in the bumper with a lock to put a tool in to drop down the spare tire spare tire. The truck constantly has pop up windows that I have to response to shut off. In the first six months I’ve own the truck I had two recalls on the electric break controller. The 1st appointment to update the brake controller took six weeks and about four + hours to update. The 2nd break controller update came two week after the 1st was done. I thought I did it remotely, but the dealer said it didn’t load and they had to do it. Prior to getting the 1st break controller updated. My windshield wiper motors quite working properly. Took three months to get new motors. Ford don’t seem to be in any hurry to do safety repairs/updates Than I got another notice in the mail that my tail gate may open driving down the road. To keep everything in the bed secure. The gave me a ten year, and 150,000 mile warrenty to repair should it open unintentionally. Dealer said they won’t do anything to fix unless I have an issue. The recall notice also said to make sure anything in the bed is secure in case tailgate opens driving down the road. I had one instance when the remote would’t unlock truck. Than another when my truck wouldn’t start even though I had had both remotes at the time. Waited about 15 minutes than it started. Ford dealer couldn’t tell me why. There is to much electronics on the truck and I really hate how the cruise control works and the the truck don’t stay in ECO mode when you shut off and restart. The owners manual is the worst I’ve had and I had to buy my own. Since Ford puts the owners manual on trucks computer which I won’t use. I don’t recommend buying a Ford F150 hybrid till they correct the things I dislike and there’s many more. They also want you to allow them to and third parties when truck is in use.
      • Tremor, the more useful version on the Raptor

By Ron B on Monday, February 07, 2022

        5.0
I have always liked the Ford F-150 Raptor and then I can across the Tremor. Turns our I like the Tremor better. There are no deserts for me to race in near me so the Raptor is not really useful for me besides looks. The Tremor on the other hand is more made for rock crawling and has a better towing capacity then the Raptor all of which are more ideal in my situation. Kelly blue book has it listed wrong on here when I try to price it out with options, so I wish they would fix that. I have the high package version which is the features of the lariat but with a suspension made for off roading. It has the active orange theme throughout which can only be found on the Tremor trim, I like it but I do understand if its just not someones thing. Perfect for someone who likes the raptor but still needs a truck to truck things.
